Instructions

GAUGE: When working in dc with a size F/5 hook, 8 dc and 4 rows = 2 inches. Each afghan block is 7 inches square.

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES:

  • Change color: Colors are always changed while completing the last st made with previous color. When working in dc: Yo, insert hk in next st and draw yarn through so there are 3 lps on hk; yo, draw yarn through 2 lps on hk; drop first color, yo, draw new color through 2 lps on hk.
  • Remember, when instructions say “change to…”, the color change is made in the previous st, not the st that follows. Hold the dropped color behind the row being worked and crochet around it so it will be in the correct position at next color change. When starting a new row it may be necessary to cut the yarn.
  • Join with a sc: With a slip knot on hk, insert hk in st of previous row and draw up a lp; yo and draw yarn through 2 lps on hk.
