GAUGE: When working in St st on larger knitting needles, 5 sts and 7 rows = 1 inch. Before laundering, the cap will be longer than the finished length. During laundering, the cap will shrink about 15% to 20%.

Techniques/stitches used:

St st (Stockinette stitch):

  • Row 1 (RS): K across row.
  • Row 2 (WS): P across row.
  • Rep Rows 1 and 2 as directed.

M 1 (make one): Insert the tip of the right-hand needle from the top down into the st on the left-hand needle (one row below), k this st, then k the next st on the left-hand needle.

SSK (slip, slip, knit): Sl 2 sts one at a time onto the right-hand needle, insert the left-hand needle into the fronts of these 2 sts and k them tog.
