Make Valentine's Day heart soaps for your friends and family.
Materials
- 2 lbs. clear glycerin soap
- 1 lb. white glycerin soap
- Knife
- Plastic measuring cups and plastic spoons
- Microwave
- Liquid soap dye in purple and red
- Liquid soap fragrance in your choice of scent
- Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle
- Heart-shaped soap mold or silicone baking mold
- Square or circular soap molds
- 1-1/4-in. heart, flower or circle cookie cutters
Instructions
MELTING
Cut desired amount of glycerin into pieces 2 in. square or smaller and place in microwave-safe plastic measuring cup. Microwave in short intervals, stirring frequently, until melted into a thick liquid. Refer to manufacturer’s instructions for recommended microwave times.
PLAIN TRANSLUCENT VALENTINE’S DAY SOAPS
- Melt clear glycerin as above. Add liquid soap dye, keeping in mind that the soap becomes more opaque as you add more dye. Add desired amount of liquid soap fragrance. Stir with a plastic spoon to mix evenly.
- Spray molds with a thin layer of rubbing alcohol and pour glycerin into mold, stopping about 1/8 in. from the top edge.
- Spray surface of glycerin with rubbing alcohol to dissipate bubbles.
- Let dry until completely cooled and hardened. Remove from mold.
LAYERED VALENTINE’S DAY SOAPS
- Melt white glycerin as above and add fragrance. Stir with a plastic spoon to mix evenly.
- Spray mold with a thin layer of -rubbing alcohol and pour white glycerin into mold until about 1/3 full. Spray surface of glycerin with rubbing alcohol. Allow surface to harden.
- Melt clear glycerin as above. Color by adding liquid soap dye, and add fragrance. Stir with a plastic spoon to mix evenly.
- Pour a layer of translucent colored glycerin into mold on top of white glycerin until about 1/8 in. from the top edge. Spray surface of colored glycerin with rubbing alcohol.
- Let dry until completely cooled and hardened. Remove from mold.
Note: Add more layers by pouring smaller amounts into the mold each time. Just be sure to spray each layer after pouring, and let each layer of glycerin harden before pouring the next.
EMBEDDED SHAPE VALENTINE’S DAY SOAPS
- Melt white glycerin as above; color with liquid soap dye and add fragrance. Stir with a plastic spoon to mix evenly.
- Spray mold with a thin layer of rubbing alcohol and pour in glycerin to make a layer 1/2 in. thick. Spray surface of glycerin with rubbing alcohol. Let glycerin cool completely and harden before removing from mold.
- With cookie cutters, cut out several shapes from hardened glycerin. Spray mold with rubbing alcohol. Place shapes in mold, and spray them with rubbing alcohol to help with adhesion.
- Melt clear glycerin as above; color with liquid soap dye and add fragrance. Stir with a plastic spoon to mix evenly.
- Allow glycerin to set for a short time and thicken. Then pour into mold on top of cutout shapes, covering them completely, until thickened glycerin is about 1/8 in. from top edge. Spray surface of glycerin with rubbing alcohol.
- Let dry until completely cooled and hardened. Remove from mold.












how fun this look. im going to go to the craft store and get the supplies i need to do this with my daughters .
