Instructions

PREPARATION:

1. Download and print Craft Pattern
2. Clean glass votive holder with glass cleaner. Let dry.
3. Following manufacturer’s instructions, spray entire votive holder with frost spray. Let dry.
4. Trace fan pattern onto tracing paper. Cut out shape.

CLAY:

1. Condition all clay before cutting or shaping it.

FAN:

1. Mix a quarter of a block of white pearl clay with half a block of translucent clay.
2. Use clay roller to roll mixed clay to a 1/8-inch-thick sheet.
3. Stamp surface of clay sheet with background stamp if desired.
4. Place fan pattern on top of clay sheet. Use craft knife to cut out shape.
5. Use toothpick to make small dots on fan where shown on  pattern. Remove pattern.
6. Use heart cutter to cut seven hearts from fan where shown on pattern. Discard heart cutouts.
7. Gently pinch lower edge of fan to give it shape and dimension.
8. Place fan on parchment-lined baking sheet.

PINK HEARTS:

1. Mix half a block of pink pearl clay with half a block of translucent clay.
2. Use clay roller to roll mixed clay to a 1/8-inch-thick sheet.
3. Stamp surface of clay sheet with background stamp if desired.
4. Use heart cutter to cut 21 hearts from clay sheet.
5. Place heart shapes on parchment-lined baking sheet.
6. Cut two 4-inch-long x 1/4-inch-wide strips from clay sheet.
7. Place one strip over bottom of fan. Position ends as shown in photo at left. Use craft knife to cut a “V” from each end of strip.
8. Fold remaining strip to make a bow. Press bow centered onto bottom of fan.
9. Cut a 1/4-inch square of clay. Press square on center of bow.

Finishing:

1. Use paintbrush to apply pigment powder to all clay pieces if desired.
2. Bake clay pieces following manufacturer’s instructions. Let cool.

ASSEMBLY:

1. Glue 18 hearts randomly to three sides of votive holder, letting each side dry before gluing them to the remaining sides. Let dry.
2. Glue fan to fourth side of votive holder as shown in photo.
3. Glue remaining three hearts around fan as shown.
4. Apply satin glaze to clay pieces following manufacturer’s instructions. Let dry.
5. Glue a clear bead to top of each heart cutout on fan.
6. Place votive holder on its side with fan side up overnight.
7. Place votive or tea light candle inside.

Finished Size: Votive holder is about 3 inches high x 3 inches across.
