Materials
- Clear glass containers
- Red sand
- White sand
- Blue sand
- Decorative flags, votive candles, pinwheels, paper pom-poms
Instructions
- Pour the sand into glass containers, one color at a time, to create patriotic layers of red, white and blue sand.
- Decorate by inserting patriotic flags, votive candles, pinwheels or paper pom-poms into the top of the layered sand.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Varying the thickness of each layer will result in a fun, wavy look. Choose different colors of sand to match the season, decor and celebration.
A time and money-saving tip to use instead of colored sand is to fill the vase or glass you are using with dry pinto beans or peas, unpopped pop corn or colorful marbles…things you already have aroung the house. They will hold up the flags just fine and offer a very country look!
