Instructions

GAUGE: When working in St st on size 8 needles, 18 sts and 24 rows = 4 inches. To save time, take time to check gauge.

Techniques/stitches used: Refer to knitting/crocheting abbreviations below.

  • St st: Row 1 and all RS rows: Knit.
  • Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl.
  • Knit in back: k-b: Knit through back lp of st, inserting needle from right to left.
  • Twisted Rib: Row 1 (RS): K 1; * k-b, p 1; rep from * until 1 st remains; k 1.
  • Row 2 (WS): K 1; * k 1, p 1; rep from * until 1 st remains; k 1.
  • M 1: With tip of right needle, pick up the horizontal strand between st just worked and next st and place strand on tip of left needle; k in back of lp, twisting st as you knit for 1 inc.
  • SSK: Slip 2 sts knitwise one at a time onto the right needle; insert the left needle into the fronts of these 2 sts and k them together.
  • RT: Leaving the first st on left needle in place, k second st on left needle without removing it from needle; then k the first st and slip both sts off together.
  • LT: Leaving the first st on left needle in place, k in back of second st on left needle without removing it from needle; then k the first st and slip both sts off together.

Directions: Before you begin, refer to gauge, techniques/stitches used, etc.
