SKP Slip 1, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over.

DIRECTIONS:

Cast on 71 sts.

  1. Rows 1-4: Knit
  2. Row 5(WS): K 4, * p 5, k 1, p 5, k 2, rep from * four more times, k 2.
  3. Row 6: K 2, p 2, * k 1, (yo, k 2 tog) twice, p 1, k 5, p 2, rep from * four more times, k 2.
  4. Row 7: K 4, * p 4, k 2, p 5, k 2, rep from * four more times, k 2.
  5. Row 8: K 2, p 2, * k 1, (yo, k 2 tog) twice, p 2, k 4, p 2, rep from * four more times, k 2.
  6. Row 9: Rep Row 7.
  7. Row 10: K 2, p 2, * k 1, (yo, k 2 tog) twice, p 2, sl next 2 sts on cn and hold in back, k 2, k 2 from cn, p 2, rep from * four more times, k 2.
  8. Rows 11-14: Rep Rows 7-10 in order.
  9. Rows 15-16: Rep Rows 7-8.
  10. Row 17: Rep Row 5.
  11. Row 18: K 2, p 2, * k 5, p 1, (SKP, yo) twice, k 1, p 2, rep from * four more times, k 2.
  12. Row 19: K 4, * p 5, k 2, p 4, k 2, rep from * four more times, k 2.
  13. Row 20: K 2, p 2, * k 4, p 2, (SKP, yo) twice, k 1, p 2, rep from * four more times, k 2.
  14. Row 21: Rep Row 19.
  15. Row 22: K 2, p 2, * sl next 2 sts on cn and hold in front, k 2, k 2 from cn, p 2, (SKP, yo) twice, k 1, p 2, rep from * four more times, k 2.
  16. Rows 23-26: Rep Rows 19-22.
  17. Rows 27-28: Rep Rows 19-20.
  18. Rep Rows 5-28 for the pattern, working until shawl is about 68 inches long or desired length and ending with a rep of either Row 16 or Row 28.
  19. Last 4 Rows: Knit.
  20. Bind off, placing last loop on crochet hook; sc in each st around, working 3 sc in each corner and ending with sl st in beg sc.
  21. Fasten off. Weave in all yarn ends.
  22. Fringe: Cut 8-inch strands of yarn. Hold three strands together and fold in half. Using the crochet hook, pull fold of strands from back to front through end stitch of one corner row. Insert ends through loop formed and pull to tighten. Repeat in end of every third st along short ends of shawl. Evenly trim ends of fringe.

FINISHED SIZE: Shawl is 23 x 66 inches plus fringe.
