Craft this Fleece Dog Bed for the family pet in your home.
Materials
- 58- to 60-in.-wide Polarfleece
—see Finished Size Chart (Below)
- Polyester stuffing—see Finished Size Chart (Below)
- All-purpose thread to match fabric
- Standard sewing supplies
Instructions
1. To make the Fleece Dog Bed Craft, begin by folding fleece fabric in half, right sides facing and selvage edges matching. With a 1/2-in. seam, sew selvage edges together, turn at corner and sew from seam to fold. Trim corners diagonally and turn right-side out.
2. Stuff with fiberfill, working stuffing into corners (Phyllis suggests Fairfield -fiberfill Stuffing because it won’t mat or clump when washed).
3. Sew remaining edges together from seam to fold with a zigzag or featherstitch. Shake to fluff.

Fleece Dog Bed Craft originally sent in by Phyllis Popp of Tempe, Arizona

The Idea is great … But what I did was make the pillow from an old sheet and then stuffed and stitched it closed I then made the Fleece slip cover as directed and for the closing end I used Velcro to close tight. This way when the cover gets dirty I can just slip it off and wash it and can put back on. My Shelties just love snuggling in it and feel special.
Dawn, We’d love to see a photo of your doggie bed and your shelties enjoying it. Feel free to email one or more to us at editors@countrywomanmagazine.com.
I have used a cut piece of thick foam and like Dawn did, make a cover with an old sheet then the fleece cover with either Velcro or a zipper.
