Instructions

  1. For all sewing, use a 1/4-in. seam allowance and coordinating colored thread. Refer to photos and pattern diagrams for cutting and assembly.
  2. Print pattern diagrams.

Bunny

  1. Turn sock wrong side out. Mark cutting lines according to pattern diagram. Cut out all pieces.
  2. For arms, fold each piece in half wrong side out, forming two squares. Sew two of the open sides on each square and turn right side out. Stuff each arm with fiberfill, stitch openings closed and set aside.
  3. For legs, fold each piece in half wrong side out, forming two long rectangles. Sew one short side and the open long side, leaving only a short side open on each. Stuff each leg with fiberfill, stitch the openings closed and set aside.
  4. For head, with wrong side out, sew ends and inner edges of ears. Turn right side out. Mark placement of eyes and nose according to the pattern diagram.
    Following the manufacturer’s instructions, attach eyes and nose. If desired, use a drop of tacky glue on the back of each before screwing on washer to secure in place. Let glue dry. Stuff head with fiberfill and set aside, leaving open at base.
  5. For tail, with wrong side out, sew sides, forming a triangle with a 1/2-in. opening. Turn right side out. Stuff with fiberfill, stitch opening closed and set aside.
  6. For body, with wrong side out, sew the two diagonal cut lines, leaving small neck opening unstitched. Turn right side out. Stuff with fiberfill and set aside, leaving neck area open.
  7. To join head to body, overlap head base opening about 1/4 in. over neck opening on body. Fold bottom sides of open head base in at an angle, as shown on diagram. Hand-stitch head base to body.
  8. Hand-stitch arms, legs and tail to body as in photo.

DIY SOCK BUNNY – FINISHED SIZE: Bunny measures about 5 in. wide x 14 in. tall.

Dog

  1. Turn sock wrong side out. Mark cutting lines according to pattern diagram. Cut out all pieces.
  2. For legs, fold each piece in half wrong side out, forming four rectangles. Sew one short side and the open long side, leaving only a short side open on each. Stuff each leg with fiberfill, stitch openings closed and set aside.
  3. For body and head, turn right side out. Mark placement of eyes and nose according to pattern diagram. Turn wrong side out. Sew diagonal edge on head, leaving the back end open. Turn right side out.
    Following the manufacturer’s instructions, attach eyes and nose. If desired, use a drop of tacky glue on the back of each before screwing on washer to secure in place. Let glue dry. Stuff head and body with fiberfill; stitch back end opening, leaving about an inch open at top to insert tail, as in diagram.
  4. For each ear, with wrong side out, sew sides, leaving a 1/2-in. opening, forming two triangles. Turn each right side out. Stuff with fiberfill, stitch opening closed and set aside.
  5. For tail, with wrong side out, sew sides, forming a long rectangle with a 1/2-in. opening. Turn right side out. Stuff with fiberfill, stitch the opening closed and set aside.
  6. Hand-stitch legs to bottom of body, as in photo. Insert tail into opening on back end of body and hand-stitch to join.

DIY SOCK DOG – FINISHED SIZE: Dog measures about 5 in. wide x 12 in. long.

Cat

  1. Turn sock wrong side out. Mark cutting lines according to pattern diagram. Cut out all pieces.
  2. For body, with wrong side out, sew ends and inner edges of legs leaving about an inch opening at the inner edge of one leg. Turn right side out. Stuff body with fiberfill, stitch opening closed and set aside.
  3. For head, with right side out, mark placement of eyes and nose according to pattern diagram. Following manufacturer’s instructions, attach eyes and nose. If desired, use a drop of tacky glue on the back of each before screwing on washer to secure in place. Let glue dry. Turn wrong side out and sew inner edges of ears, leaving about an inch opening in their base. Turn right side out. Stuff head with fiberfill, stitch opening closed and set aside.
  4. For tail, with wrong side out, sew sides leaving a 1/2-in. opening forming a long, skinny triangle. Turn right side out. Stuff with fiberfill, stitch opening closed and set aside.
  5. Hand stitch head with ears and tail to body. Refer to photo for placement.
