Instructions

GAUGE: 8 hdcs and 6 rows = 3 inches.

Directions:

Remember that the lp on the hk never counts as one of the foundation chs. Also, unless you are working in sc, the beg-ch always counts as the first st in a row. Only work in the st directly below a beg-ch if the instructions say to do so.

CUBE: Square (make 6):

  1. C-Row 1 (RS): With red, loosely ch 15; hdc in third ch from hk and in each ch across: count 14 hdcs.
  2. C-Rows 2-11: Ch 2, turn; hdc in each hdc across: count 14 hdcs. Fasten off at end of Row 11.
  3. Cube assembly: Thread needle with an 18-inch length of red yarn. With wrong sides together and edges even, whipstitch two squares together along one side.
  4. Add two more squares in the same way to create a strip that is four squares long. Stitch the first and fourth squares together to create the four sides of a cube.
  5. With wrong sides together throughout, lay a fifth square on top of cube. Whipstitch together along all four sides of square. Turn piece so open end is up and lay final square on top. Stitch together along three sides. Stuff with fiberfill and stitch fourth side closed. Weave in loose ends.

PYRAMID: Triangle (make 4):

  1. P-Row 1: With yellow, loosely ch 3; hdc in third ch from hk: count 2 hdcs.
  2. P-Row 2 (RS): Ch 2, turn, hdc in same st as beg-ch; work 2 hdcs in next st: count 4 hdcs.
  3. P-Row 3: Ch 2, turn, hdc in same st as beg-ch; hdc in each of next 2 sts; work 2 hdcs in last st: count 6 hdcs.
  4. P-Row 4: Ch 2, turn, hdc in same st as beg-ch; hdc in each of next 4 sts; work 2 hdcs in last st: count 8 hdcs.
  5. P-Row 5: Ch 2, turn; hdc in each st across: count 8 hdcs.
  6. P-Rows 6-9: Ch 2, turn, hdc in same st as beg-ch; hdc in each hdc until 1 st remains; work 2 hdcs in last hdc: count 16 hdcs at end of P-Row 9.
  7. P-Row 10: Ch 2, turn; hdc in each st across: count 16 hdcs. Fasten off.
  8. Pyramid assembly: Thread needle with an 18-inch length of yellow yarn. With wrong sides together and edges even, whipstitch two triangles together along one side.
  9. Add one more triangle in the same way to create a strip of three triangles that meet at the top point. Whipstitch the first and third triangles together to create the three sides of a pyramid.
  10. With wrong sides together, lay fourth triangle on open end and whipstitch together along two sides. Stuff with fiberfill and stitch final side closed. Weave in loose ends.

BALL: Bowl (make 2):

  1. Rnd 1: With blue, loosely ch 3; work 7 hdcs in third ch from hk; join with a sl st in top of beg-ch: count 8 hdcs. (If desired, identify the end of a rnd by marking the last st with a safety pin. When this st is reached in next rnd, remove the pin and place it in the last st of new rnd.)
  2. Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in same st as beg-ch; work 2 hdcs in each remaining st around; join with a sl st in top of beg-ch: count 16 hdcs.
  3. Rnd 3: Ch 2, work 2 hdcs in next st; * hdc in next st, work 2 hdcs in next st; rep from * around; join with a sl st in top of beg-ch: count 24 hdcs.
  4. Rnd 4: Ch 2, hdc in next st, work 2 hdcs in next st; * hdc in each of next 2 sts, work 2 hdcs in next st; rep from * around; join with a sl st in top of beg-ch: count 32 hdcs.
  5. Rnd 5: Ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next st; * work 2 hdcs in next st, hdc in next st; rep from * around; join with a sl st in top of beg-ch: count 48 hdcs.
  6. Rnds 6-8: Ch 2, hdc in each st around; join with a sl st in top of beg-ch: count 48 hdcs. Fasten off at end of Rnd 8.
  7. Ball assembly: Place open sides of bowls together with edges even. Thread needle with a 24-inch length of blue yarn. Whipstitch edges together, stopping about two-thirds of the way around. Stuff with fiberfill. Finish stitching closed. Weave in loose ends.

FINISHED SIZE: Cube is about 5-1/4 inches square, pyramid is about 5-1/4 inches high x 5-1/4 inches wide and ball measures 16 inches around widest point.
