ch = chain
dc(s) = double crochet(s)
hk = hook
sc(s) =   single crochet(s)

GAUGE:

11 sts and 10 rows = 4 inches. Check gauge to save time.

DIRECTIONS:

Ch 75 loosely.

Row 1: (RS): dc in fourth ch from hk and in each remaining ch across, turn: 73 dcs.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in same sp, sc in each remaining st across, turn: 73 scs.

Row 3: Ch 3 for first tr, * FPtr around dc one row below next sc, dc in next sc; repeat from * across, (there will be a FPtr worked around every other dc in Row 1 and a dc in every other sc in Row 2) turn: 73 sts.

Row 4: Repeat Row 2.

Row 5: Ch 3 * Dc in next sc, FPtr around dc one row below next sc; repeat from * across, ending row with a dc in last 2 dcs, turn: 73 sts.

Row 6: Repeat Row 2.

Row 7: Ch 3 * FPtr around dc one row below next sc, dc in next sc; repeat from * across, turn: 73 sts.

Row 8: Repeat Row 2. Fasten off.

Row 9: (Sleeve): Ch 31 (new ch), with RS facing, dc in first sc, of Row 8, * FPtr around dc one row below next sc, dc in next sc; repeat from * across, ending row with a dc in last 2 dcs, (73 sts), ch 32 for other sleeve, turn.

Row 10: Sc in second ch from hk, sc in each ch and st across, turn: 135 scs.

Row 11: Ch 2 for first dc, dc in next 30 scs; * FPtr around dc one row below next sc, dc in next sc; repeat from * across to sleeve, dc in next 31 scs, turn.

Row 12: Repeat Row 2: 135 sts.

Rows 13-40: Repeat rows 3-6. Fasten off at end of Row 40, leaving a tail of yarn to sew sleeve edges together.

Row 41: (RS): Skip 31 sts, attach yarn with sl st in next st, ch 2, * dc in next sc, FPtr around dc one row below next sc; repeat from * across next 72 sts, ending row with a dc in last 2 dcs and leaving 31 sts unworked, turn: 72 sts.

Row 42: Repeat Row 2.

Row 43: Repeat Row 3.

Row 44: Repeat Row 2.

Row 45: (Reverse shaping for collar), ch 3, dc in next sc, * BPtr around dc one row below next sc, dc in next sc: repeat from * across, ending row with a dc in last 2 scs, turn.

Row 46: Repeat Row 2.

Row 47: Ch 3, * BPtr around dc one row below next sc, dc in next sc; repeat from * across, turn.

Row 48: Repeat Row 2.

Row 49: Repeat Row 45. Fasten off, leaving a tail of yarn to sew sleeve edges together.

ASSEMBLY:

Fold crocheted piece in half lengthwise with RS facing.

Use yarn needle and tails of yarn to sew side edges and underarm seams together. Weave in all loose ends.

EDGING:

Body:

Round 1: With RS facing, attach yarn with a sl st in sp between a side seam and next st. Ch 1, sc in same sp, sc between each dc around to beginning, join with a sl st. Fasten off.

Sleeve:

Round 1: With RS facing, attach yarn with a sl st in sp between underarm seam and next st. Ch 1, sc in same sp, work evenly around, working 2 scs in each dc, join with a sl st in beginning st. Do not turn.

Round 2: Ch 2, dc in each sc around, join with a sl st in top of beginning ch 2.

Round 3: Sl st into sp between next dc, ch 1, sc in same sp, sc between each dc around, join with a sl st in beginning st.

Fasten off. Repeat around other sleeve.

 Finished Size: Adult size Medium shown (length of finished crocheted piece measures about 20 inches, and width from sleeve end to sleeve end measures about 49 inches). Size can be changed by using a smaller or larger crochet hook (size G—Small; size I—Large; size J—X Large; size K—XX Large) or by working fewer or more rows and fewer or more stitches in each row.
