GAUGE: End of Round 3 = 2 inches across.

DIRECTIONS:

Ch 7; join with a sl st in beginning ch to form a ring. Work the doily in rounds with­out turning.

  1. Round 1: Ch 5 (counts as first dc and first ch-sp), [dc, ch 2] in ring nine times, join with sl st in third ch of beginning ch-5: 10 dcs and 10 ch-2 sps.
  2. Round 2: Sl st into ch-2 sp, ch 5, dc in same sp; * (dc, ch 2, dc) in next sp; repeat from * around, join with sl st in third ch of beginning ch-5.
  3. Round 3: Sl st into ch-2 sp, ch 3 for first dc, work 2 dcs in same sp, ch 3; * sk next two dcs, work 3 dcs in next ch-2 sp, ch 3; repeat from * around, join with sl st in top of beginning ch-3.
  4. Round 4: Sl st into ch-3 sp, ch 8; * sc in next ch-sp, ch 8; repeat from * around, join with a sl st in first ch of beginning ch-8.
  5. Round 5: Sl st to center of ch-8 sp, ch 10; * sc in next ch-sp, ch 10; repeat from * around, join with sl st in first ch of beginning ch-10.
  6. Round 6: Sl st to third ch of next ch-10 sp, ch 3 for first dc, work 2 dcs, ch 3, 3 dcs in same sp (shell made), ch 4; * work (3 dcs, ch 3, 3 dcs) in next ch-10 sp, ch 4; repeat from * around, join with sl st in top of beginning ch-3.
  7. Round 7: Sl st to center of next ch-3 sp, ch 5; * work (3 dcs, ch 3, 3 dcs) in next ch-4 sp, ch 5, sc in ch-sp of next shell, ch 5; repeat from * around, ending last repeat after first ch-5, join with sl st in first ch of beginning ch-5.
  8. Round 8: Sl st to third ch of next ch-5 sp; * ch 8, sc in ch-sp of next shell, [ch 8, sc in next ch-sp] twice; repeat from * around, join with sl st in first ch of beginning ch-8.
  9. Round 9: Sl st to center of next ch-8 sp, ch 10; * sc in next ch-sp, ch 10; repeat from * around, join with sl st in first ch of beginning ch-10.
  10. Round 10: Sl st to third ch of next ch-sp, ch 3 for first dc, work 2 dcs in same ch-sp, ch 4, sl st in first ch (picot made), work 3 dcs in same ch-sp, ch 3; * work 3 dcs in next ch-sp, ch 4, sl st in first ch for picot, work 3 dcs in same ch-sp, ch 3; repeat from * around, join with sl st in top of beginning ch-3. Fasten off.
  11. Use the tapestry needle to weave in the loose ends.
  12. Block and starch if desired.

FINISHED SIZE: Doily measures about 8 inches across.
