CROCHET GARLAND: With orange and leaving a 5-inch length of yarn at the beginning and end, ch to make a 96-inch-long piece.

In same way, make a 96-inch-long black piece and green piece.

Hold the beginning end of each color piece together as one and tie ends in an overhand knot close to start of chain. Place the tied ends under a heavy object to hold. Roll each separate color chain into a ball and place a rubber band around each to hold. Braid the three chains together loosely, keeping them flat and unrolling the balls as needed. Continue braiding until the braid is about 84 inches long. If the ends are uneven, undo the chains as needed so ends are aligned. Tie the yarn ends together in an overhand knot as before.

Finishing: Cut eleven 12-inch lengths of black yarn.

Fold garland in half to find center and mark.

Thread yarn or tapestry needle with a 12-inch length of black yarn. Push the needle down through the top of the garland at the marked center point. Insert the needle into the top of a ghost and back up through the garland. Remove needle. Pull yarn ends tightly and knot ends together. Tie ends in a small bow. Trim ends as desired.

Repeat to attach the remaining figures to the garland, alternating the pump-kins, ghosts and monsters about 6 inches apart along the braid.
