DIRECTIONS:

SUN EARRINGS: (Bottom pair in photo) Ch 15, using a 6-in. to 8-in. lead thread to reinforce the stitches that form the circle; sl st in first ch to form ring.

  1. Round 1: Ch 1, 24 sc in ring; sl st in first sc.
  2. Round 2: Sc in first sc; (ch 5, sk 2 sc, sc in next sc) do this seven times; ch 5; sl st in first sc.
  3. Ch 1, ch 1 through hole of fishhook earring, ch 1. Remove crochet hook. Cut thread, leaving 18-in. tail.
  4. Insert thread end through eye of darning needle and pull through last stitch. Insert needle through to center of ring. Slip bead on needle and sew it in place inside the ring, stitching through it six to eight times to secure. Snip thread, leaving 1/4-in. tail. Smear a drop of permanent craft cement over thread until it is covered; press into stitches on wrong side of earring. Allow cement to dry thoroughly.
  5. Repeat for second earring.
  6. Dilute craft (white) glue with water to a workable consistency. Spread diluted glue around crocheted surface with your fingers until threads are saturated. Hang the earrings on a clothes hanger until dry.

PINWHEEL EARRINGS: (Top pair in photo) Ch 8 (for 8mm bead), using a double lead thread to reinforce sts that form the ring; sl st in first ch to form ring.

  1. Round 1: Ch 6, dc in ring (ch 3, dc in ring) six times, ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch of ch-6, creating 8 sps.
  2. Round 2: Sl st in next sp, ch 2, 2 hdc in same sp, (ch 2, 3 hdc in next sp) seven times, ch 3, sl st in top of ch 2.
  3. Ch 1, ch 1 through hole of fishhook earring, ch 1. Remove crochet hook. Cut thread, leaving 18-in. tail.
