GAUGE: Each side of motif is about 9 inches long.

DIRECTIONS:

FIRST MOTIF:

  1. Round 1: With red yarn, ch 6; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring; ch 3 for first dc, work 3 dcs in ring, [ch 3, work 4 dcs in ring] two times, ch 3, join with sl st in third ch of beginning ch-3: 3 ch-3 sps and 12 dcs. Fasten off.
  2. Round 2: Attach green yarn with a sl st in any ch-3 sp, ch 3, work (2 dcs, ch 3, 3 dcs) in same ch-sp for first corner; * work 3 dcs in center of next 4-dc group, work (3 dcs, ch 3, 3 dcs) in next ch-3 sp for next corner; repeat from * once, work 3 dcs in center of next 4-dc group, join with sl st in third ch of beginning ch-3. Fasten off.
  3. Round 3: Join white yarn with a sl st in any corner ch-3 sp, ch 3, work (2 dcs, ch 3, 3 dcs) in same sp; * [sk 3 dcs, work 3 dcs between next 3-dc groups] twice, work (3 dcs, ch 3, 3 dcs) in next corner ch-3 sp; repeat from * once, [sk 3 dcs, work 3 dcs in between next 3-dc groups] twice, join with sl st to third ch of beginning ch-3.
  4. Round 4: Sl st to next corner sp, ch 3, work (2 dcs, ch 3, 3 dcs) in same sp; * [sk 3 dcs, work 3 dcs in between next 3-dc groups] three times, work (3 dcs, ch 3, 3 dcs) in next corner ch-3 sp; repeat from * once, sk 3 dcs, work [3 dcs in between next 3-dc groups] three times, join with sl st to third ch of beginning ch-3. Fasten off.
  5. Round 5: Join red yarn with a sl st in any corner sp, ch 3, work (2 dcs, ch 3, 3 dcs) in same sp; * [sk 3 dcs, work 3 dcs between next 3-dc groups] four times, work (3 dcs, ch 3, 3 dcs) in next corner ch-3 sp; repeat from * once, [sk 3 dcs, work 3 dcs between next 3-dc groups] four times, join with sl st in third ch of beginning ch-3.   6. Round 6: Join green yarn with a sl st in any corner sp, (sc, ch 1, sc) in same sp; * [ch 4, sc between next 3 dc-groups] five times, ch 4, (sc, ch 1, sc) in next corner ch-3 sp; repeat from *, [ch 4, sc between next 3-dc groups] five times, ch 4, join with sl st in beginning st. Fasten off.

MOTIFS 2-6: Work Rounds 1-5, joining sides of motifs in Round 6 as follows:

Joining Round 6: Join green yarn with a sc in any corner ch-3 sp, (ch 1, sc) in same sp, ch 2, with wrong sides facing, align top of new motif with top of last one made, sc in last ch-4 sp of first motif; * ch 2, sc between next two 3-dc groups of second motif, ch 2, sc in next ch-4 sp of first motif; repeat from * four more times, ch 2, (sc, ch 1, sc) in next corner-sp of new motif. Complete as for first motif from * in Round 6. Make four more motifs, joining them to previous motifs as worked in the same way.

BORDER: All rows are worked along outer (longest) edge with right side facing. Join each new row in first st of previous row.

  1. Row 1: Join white yarn with a sc in first corner ch-1 sp, ch 2; * [work 3 dcs in next ch-4 sp, ch 2, sc in next sc, ch 2] five times, work 3 dcs in next ch-4 sp, ch 2, sc corner ch-sps of motifs together, ch 2; repeat from * across, ending last repeat with sc in last corner ch-sp. Fasten off.
  2. Row 2: Join white yarn with a sc in first sc; * ch 2, dc in each of next 3 dcs, ch 2, sc in next sc; repeat from * across. Fasten off.
  3. Rows 3-4: Join white yarn with a sc in first sc; * ch 3, dc in each of next 3 dcs, ch 3, sc in next sc; repeat from * across. Fasten off.
  4. Row 5: Join red yarn with a sc in first sc; * ch 3, dc in each of next 3 dcs, ch 3, sc in next sc; repeat from * across. Fasten off.

CENTER TRIM AND TIES: With green yarn, ch 20, sc evenly across inner circle across top of each motif, ch 20. Fasten off.
