Express Entrees
Think fast! For busy cooks bent on beating the clock, we’ve selected “Express Entrees” as the theme of our latest CW recipe contest.
We’re looking for main dishes with fantastic flavor that you can whip up in 30 minutes or less—including both prep and cooking time. So fast-forward through your recipe file for entrees that call for only a handful of ingredients, or take advantage of convenience items or quick- cooking techniques.
For example, show us how you make haste with your microwave. “Zap” us recipes for frittatas, refried bean wraps, speedy Salisbury steak or mac ’n’ cheese that make everyone happy lickety-split.
We’d be thrilled to hear how your grill gets a main dish to the table at a sizzlin’ pace. Clue us in on your quickest kabobs, swiftest salmon and snappiest grilled sandwiches that go from the grate to the plate in half an hour or under.
Perhaps you break speed records when you broil. Share your timely take on broiled halibut, glazed pork chops, country spareribs, tuna melts or burgers that are prepped and ready in a hurry.
It’s likely you have a stovetop specialty that satisfies hunger faster than a pizza delivery truck. We’re eager to breeze through recipes for skillet lasagna, easy chili, pork medallions, stovetop casseroles and stir-fries.
Maybe you use convenience food to streamline your kitchen schedule. Main dishes that rely on prebaked crusts, cooked deli meats, bagged greens, frozen veggies and canned soups will definitely be in the running.
The deadline for entering this contest is March 1, 2007. Winners will be featured in the October/November 2007 issue of CW. So get a head start on choosing your recipes.
