Family Reunion Buffet

Among heirlooms passed down through generations, well-loved recipes top the list. That’s why we’ve chosen the “Family Reunion Buffet” as the focus of our latest recipe contest.

We’re looking for recipes that are proven crowd-pleasers. A variety of food categories are included—everything from Aunt Lou’s fried chicken to Grandpa Bud’s brownies qualifies. However, beverages are not eligible in this contest.

Show us how you round up relatives with appetizers and snacks. Bring out the party mix, cheese spreads, veggie dips and bite-size meatballs.

We’re relatively certain you have an entree your clan looks forward to again and again. So, please pass the turkey sandwiches, grilled sausages, beefy casseroles and finger-licking ribs.

Whether you’re planning a family picnic, potluck or barbecue, salads and side dishes are a must—tangy coleslaw, fruit salad, deviled eggs, macaroni with ham and peas, or baked beans.

Clue us in on the winners that guarantee you won’t come home with any leftovers. Perhaps you butter up relatives with grilled garlic toast, jalapeno corn bread or lemon muffins.

Of course, no reunion meal would be complete without a luscious dessert. Is a peach pie, fudge torte or berry cobbler the star of your family cookbook? Do you bake a carrot cake or coconut bars?

Submit dishes that travel well and are easy to pack. And why not share fare that can be prepared ahead to maximize time for reminiscing?

Don’t forget, reunions connect us with our roots. Therefore, transport us with ethnic foods such as Mexican enchiladas, Irish soda bread or regional American specialties like Texas brisket.

The deadline for entering this contest is January 1, 2007. Winners will be featured in the July/August 2007 issue of CW. So shake your family tree for recipes.
