Heather Thoming is first and foremost a wife and mother. Beyond that, she’s the creator of WhipperBerry, a blog where she takes the simple everyday and makes it extraordinary—be it through cooking, photography, party-planning or DIY projects for the home. Take a look at what Heather is up to via her blog and learn more about her below.

CW: How did you get started with cooking and food styling, entertaining and DIY decorating projects? Why did you begin blogging?

Heather: As a young mom, I became engrossed in the world of creating, whether that be with food, home decor or holiday decorations. You could say I was a Martha Stewart wannabe. The blog came about after the birth of my fourth child. I’d started an Etsy shop and felt I needed a blog to promote it. I soon found I enjoyed designing and creating, but not mass-producing. It wasn’t long before I decided to drop the shop and blog full-time.

CW: How has your blog changed since you started? What surprises, challenges or rewards has it brought you?

Heather: After you start a blog, you learn step by step, and realize you need to modify things as you go. I guess the most pleasant surprise is how supportive the blogging community is. I now have close friends all over the world that I would never have met without the blog connection. It has opened up the world in ways I would never have imagined.

I also love that blogging has forced me to learn and to grow. So many times, especially as stay-at-home moms, we forget that we need to constantly push ourselves. We get comfortable with our routines and tend to stagnate. Blogging has awoken my mind again. It pushes me everyday to hone my skills and to tackle things that can be scary. It’s pushed me in ways I could never have imagined.

CW: What kind of relationship do you have with your followers, and what posts or subjects have proven most popular?

Heather: I adore my readers. They are the bread and butter of the blog world. I love the interaction that we have on a daily basis. They are always so kind and supportive.

A few of my most popular posts include the Candy Cane Wreath Project craft tutorial and my recipe for The Most Amazing Chocolate Cake .
