New! “Oh, Slow Good” Recipe Contest

Earn a fast $500 with your slow cooker.

Quick! Now’s the time to simmer up a winner in our “Oh, Slow Good” recipe contest, featuring your slow cooker specialties.

Lift the lid on your slow-cooked stars, chock-full of ready-when-you-are flavor. We’ll consider all your popular one-pot wonders—from hors d’oeuvres and entrees to desserts.

We’re looking for appetizers and beverages you can fix and forget—barbecued wings, seafood dip, Mexican hot chocolate, pumpkin spiced cider and more. Bowl us over with hearty soups and stews, from split pea to chunky chili.

We want savory main dishes that warmly welcome you home—like enchilada casserole, roast beef and pulled pork sandwiches. Or maybe a satisfying side dish bubbles unattended in your cooker—maple baked beans to make-ahead mashed potatoes to caramelized onions.

Don’t overlook those aromatic, slow-cooked desserts. Surprise us with Swedish rice pudding, poached pears with ginger and melt-in-your mouth berry cobbler—all prepared without the hassle of a watched pot or oven.

It doesn’t pay to be poky. Rush us your recipes postmarked by our contest deadline, June 1, 2010. We’ll announce the winners in our February/March 2011 issue.

GREAT PRIZES!
The Grand Prize is $500 cash. The second-prize winner will receive $300, and third prize is $200.

The five runners-up will win a free year of Country Woman for themselves or a friend.
