Ready to craft yourself a merry little Christmas?
Now’s the time to let your creativity shine!
The countdown is on to Country Woman’s new All Things Christmas Craft Contest. Whether you knit, sew, paint, bead or use other techniques, your gift for crafting could win you up to $500 in cash.
Put forward your festive entry, the one that says “Merry Christmas!” Your original creation must capture the spirit of the season with its theme, motif, color or holiday style, be it traditional or contemporary.
We’ve divided the contest into two categories:
Holiday Home: Do you transform your home into a winter wonderland? Let us peek at your tree skirt or topper, Christmas stocking and pillow graced with angels.
We’d love to see Yule napkins, place mats and runners. Or enlighten us with a crafty Christmas candle or painted tray. Get us in the spirit with a wreath, garland or wall hanging. (Please, no tree ornaments.)
Merry Wearables: Unwrap ho-ho-homemade clothing, jewelry and accessories. Show us sweaters seasoned with snowmen, dresses aglitter with red and green sequins, and hats embroidered with holly. Maybe you adorn aprons with gingerbread appliques, knitted candy cane-striped mittens or crocheted slippers resembling reindeer.
Smiling Santa pins, Christmas tree earrings and star-studded necklaces would bedazzle us as well.
We’ll award $500 to the Best in Show craft project (from either category). In addition, we’ll select a first-prize winner in each category, who’ll receive $250 apiece. Second-prize winners will each earn $150. Winning entries will be announced and pictured in our June/July 2010 issue.
Entry deadline is February 1, 2010. We can’t wait for your crafty Christmas packages to arrive!
