Pepper Uppers
Pick your prime recipes for peppers and send them to us—you could win $500.
Mild-mannered and sweet or fiery with heat, peppers have never been hotter! That means our new “Pepper Uppers” recipe contest has plenty of possibilities.
Show us how you pepper your plates with a tasty array—red, orange, yellow and green…bell, banana, jalapeno, chili…Ana-heim and poblano, included. The peppers can be fresh, roasted, pickled or even chipotle peppers in adobo sauce.
We need a potpourri of…
Appetizers
Perhaps you perk up parties with jalapeno poppers, roasted red pepper bruschetta or sizzling pepper salsa for dipping chips.
Entrees
Tempt us with a peck of recipes for flavor-packed main dishes. We’ll consider pepper frittatas for breakfast, chili rellenos for lunch, pepper steak or stuffed peppers for dinner, and more.
Soups and Salads
Our judges love dishes as colorful as an artist’s palette—from rainbow-bright bell pepper salad to a rich, golden pond of peppery butternut squash soup.
Breads and Spreads
Of course, nothing gives baked goods a kick like peppers. Pass us your pepper zucchini latkes, roasted pepper focaccia and chipotle corn muffins warm from the oven. Plus, send along pepper butters and jellies, too.
Our Test Kitchen’s fired up and ready for your entries! Send recipes postmarked by our contest deadline, December 1, 2008. We will present the winners in our August/September 2009 issue.
GREAT PRIZES!
The Grand Prize is $500 cash. The second-prize winner will receive $300, and third prize is $200.
Each of the five runners-up will receive a $30 gift certificate from Country Store.
